This visa stream requires a skills assessment of an occupation on the Medium and Long-term Strategic Skills List (MLTSSL).

Subclass 189
Skilled – Independent visa
Points Stream
This Visa is an independent, skill-based, point tested invited pathway for highly skilled applicants to live and work permanently in Australia.

Subclass 190
Skilled – Nominated Visa
Subclass 190 is a state or territory sponsored, points-tested permanent visa pathway for highly skilled overseas applicants to settle in Australia.

Subclass 482
Employer Sponsored Visa
Subclass 482 visa is a temporary work visa that allows visa holders in occupations considered ‘high value’ to the economy for the period of 2 to 4 years to live in Australia while working full-time for the sponsoring employer.

Subclass 491
Skilled Work Regional (Provisional) visa
Subclass 491 is a provisional state/ territory or family-sponsored visa pathway for skilled workers to live, work and study in Australia for up to five years.

Skilled Employer Sponsored (Regional) visa

Yes, skills assessments are usually only valid three years from the original issue date for skilled migration. It may be valid for a shorter or a more extended period, depending on your requirement.
This depends on the skills assessment. Generally, this could take up to an average of 6 weeks.
Yes. In some cases, applicants can fit into one or more occupations, and in this case, you can apply for multiple skills assessments. Alternatively, if your occupation has multiple skills assessment providers (for example, accountants), and your skills assessment fails with one provider, you can always apply with another provider.
Yes, you may be able to still get a positive skills assessment without a formal qualification through Recognition of Prior Learning (‘RPL’). RPL acknowledges that individuals can acquire skills through informal learning and work experience and awards qualifications after assessing their work experience. However, this may not always be possible for all skills assessment bodies.
