Subclass 485 is a visa pathway for international student graduates
looking to stay back in Australia for up to five years once they complete their qualifications in Australia. 

There are three streams for a subclass 485 application, and the length of your visa will depend on the stream you have applied for.

TYPES OF

SUBCLASS 485 VISA

There are four main types of 485 visas that you can apply for to remain in Australia:

Post Study Work Stream

This visa is suitable for international students who recently graduated with a bachelor’s degree or higher from an Australian institution.

Second Post Study Work Stream

This stream is suitable for holders of a first Temporary Graduate visa who have graduated from an Australian regional institution and continued to remain in a regional area for two years.

Graduate Work Stream

The Graduate Work stream enables International Graduates with specific skills outlined in the skilled occupation list to remain in Australia to travel, work, study and live in Australia for up to 24 months.

Replacement stream

This visa is for International Graduates who have lost time in their Subclass 485 visa due to COVID-19 restrictions
