What is a Skills Assessment?

A skills assessment evaluates a person’s ability for using a particular skill or set of skills in the context of their qualifications, suitability, and needs.

Why do you need a skills assessment? OR Why is skill assessment important?

  • Skill assessment is mandatory requirement for most of the points-based PR visas such as 189,190, and 491.
  • It is also required for many employer-sponsored visas.
  • Skills assessment is the foundation step towards achieving an Australian PR
  • Without the right skills, it could be simply impossible to be an Australian PR under the Skilled Migration Program.

Who does the skill assessment?

  • There are more than 35 different authorities that do the skills assessment.
  • Generally each authority specializes in a particular sector. They verify and assess if the individual has the necessary skills as per Australian Education Standards.
