ACS Skills Assessment

Your first step toward Australia’s skilled migration pathway in ICT

A positive ACS (Australian Computer Society) Skills Assessment is essential for ICT professionals planning to apply for visas such as 189, 190, 491, or 485. Whether you’re an international student who recently completed an Australian IT degree or an experienced overseas ICT professional, ACS determines how your qualification and work experience match Australia’s ICT standards.

At Knowbal Migration, we help you choose the correct ACS pathway, understand ICT Major/Minor outcomes, minimise deduction years, and avoid common mistakes in RPL and employment verification. Our guidance ensures your ACS assessment supports a strong PR strategy.

CAN I APPLY FOR AN

ACS Skills Assessment?

FAQs

Yes. If your degree is classified as an ICT Minor, ACS will apply additional deduction years, which can delay your eligibility for skilled visas. We help you understand how many years may be deducted and strategise your EOI timeline so your PR plan isn’t affected.

ACS focuses on actual job duties, not job titles. If your day-to-day tasks match your nominated ANZSCO code, your experience may still be accepted. We help prepare detailed statutory declarations and evidence so ACS clearly understands your ICT responsibilities.

You can prepare your documents early, but ACS will not finalise the assessment until formal completion is confirmed. If your completion letter is delayed, we guide you on what evidence you can gather so your ACS application is ready to lodge quickly.

Very strict. Even small mismatches can lead to “unsuitable” outcomes. ACS cross-checks your duties against the official ANZSCO task list. We help rewrite employer statements and declarations so your experience aligns correctly with your nominated occupation.

Yes — ACS allows alternative evidence such as supervisor declarations, project documentation, or statutory declarations. We help you structure compliant supporting documents to reduce the risk of ACS rejecting your experience due to verification issues.

ACS expects original, experience-based, technically accurate RPL reports. AI-generated content is often generic and may fail to demonstrate competency or depth. We help craft RPL reports that reflect your real work, align with ACS requirements, and reduce risk of negative outcomes.

Yes — deduction years directly affect your “skilled employment” points and eligibility. If ACS applies more deduction than expected, your EOI score may drop. We help assess alternative pathways (state nomination, different ANZSCO codes, or skills prioritisation) to protect your PR plan.
